ProLay are Andover tilers who we have setup a website, Facebook page and Twitter account for. In addition, we are also kick starting them with some online marketing and of course, SEO on the website.

This is going to be an on-going development as they offer a range of services including trailer hire.

They have also been setup on Facebook, Twitter and Google+ to maximise exposure. In fact the first enquiry came through within 12 hours of the site going live.

The site went live before Christmas – on budget and on time – and allows online orders of the JCB clothing range.

Potentially a great move by a Canadian company in buying the domain name – they’ve put up a very basic page with a link to their main site.

So what’s the point? Traffic. People read Dilbert cartoons and will usually search for things – something possible now with the Internet and search engines. Plus it’s a challenge and handy when you can show a potential SEO client

“Invented” by Wally, it appear to be a made-up computer system so that he doesn’t get fired – as he says, the word is “indispensable”.

So why are these cartoons about Zeberpupin relevant to business?

Does your company run a computer system or process that is reliant on a single person? What if they left? What if they suffered from a long term illness?

The situation is not good for the business or for the employee. The business is too reliant on one person and, whilst it might help secure the job future for the employee, it adds extra stress to them as any issues puts them as the focal point. If the business is 24×7 this can mean being on almost permanent call-out duty.

Now is the time to get that skill documented, even if it’s just the processes that you’d need to complete in the event of an emergency. And stop being a Wally!

Called Pressed to Impress, using the power of Facebook and by posting on various groups, Lucy is building her business with a great service and very competitive prices. By charging per group of items you know how much it will cost before Lucy collects it – so no surprises!

Whilst having your ironing done by someone else may seem a luxury, if you work for yourself it’s worth considering how much time it will save you – time that you could use doing more client based (and chargeable) work.

Simon and his team haven’t been standing still either and were recently featured on the Lifehacker website which resulted in quite a few new visitors and signups.

The site helps you by building a personal fitness, diet, and weight loss plan and allows you to connect and share with friends on Facebook, so that they can give you the encouragement / friendly kick so you needn’t feel you’re on your own.

It’s also free and easy to use – so much so we’ve even signed up ourselves!

The Oak at Smannell

Between them they have already built up an excellent reputation for the quality of the food and service as well as attracting many of the local (and not so local) residents back. The also have regular event nights.

To help promote The Oak at Smannell, Tom has already started putting the pub’s presence online by redesigning the website himself and getting into Facebook and Twitter.

We are going to be working them to get their new “designed by the landlord” website up and running as well as getting the site to rank for related searches such as “Sunday Roast Andover Pub“, “Sunday Pub Lunch Andover” and “Country Pub Hampshire“.

Not sure we should be telling you this but, here goes…

1. Optimise The Content
   This is a must! How can you expect to be found if your keywords aren’t in the right places – or there at all? Page Title, Meta Description and Content.
2. Re-submit Your Sitemap
   To help Google find your pages you need a sitemap – it tells Google what pages you have. You also need a Webmaster login.
3. Post a Link on Twitter
   Ideally you have an establised Twitter account and haven’t just created it. Even better if you can get it re-tweeted.
4. Post a Link on Facebook
   If you can get people to share it, even better.
5. Post a Link on LinkedIn
   It’s another place for a link.
6. Post a Link on Gumtree
   “Err where?” I hear you ask. Gumtree. Go to the “Services” section and create an ad to link back to your post. It does work and Google seems to like it.

So did it work? Yes, with posted to live in around 3 1/2 hours. We did manage to achieve 75 seconds once (seriously – client was there to time it) but that was on a site we’d been blogging daily, and sometimes twice daily, on.

You might now want to do all of this for each blog post – this was done as a test but gave us around 400+ hits in the first 24 hours.

Feel free to try the above ideas and play around with them – try a few posts with just Twitter, maybe just a Gumtree advert.
