I was doing a bit of catching up on my reading last night and came across a great article on Craig Killick’s Click 71 site about some companies thinking that all they need to do is setup a website and a Twitter account and as if by magic they’ll be huge overnight.
I’m with Craig on this one and a big believer that you can’t just put all your eggs into one marketing basket. Whilst website optimisation and online marketing will help, there are potential clients out there that use other methods to find suppliers.
One of the newer local companies doing this is Moore’s Maintenance – run by Darren Moore they offer a range of services including commercial property maintenance and recently completed the BeWiser building featured in the Andover Advertiser.
Whilst his online marketing is covered, Darren has been testing other marketing methods including adverts in local papers, leaflet drops, mailshots, referrals and networking.
As with most testing, some has worked better than others but he is giving the Moore’s Maintenance some great exposure and increasing the chance of getting his company in front of the right person. He has also made sure it all works together – so his business cards, ads and flyers all have his contact details and website address on.
So, once you’ve double checked that those expensive newspaper adverts have your website address on, add a comment below on your ideas for marketing your business and we’ll link back to you.
